Dear American Brothers!

After 2 months since my last e-mail I managed to spare some time and write to You! I will briefly sum up the happenings of these last 2 months.
The school ended on the 15th of June, but the seminary classes didn't end for us, because we had 3 youngsters for confirmation, and I had to prepare them every day. The confirmation was held on July the 2nd in front of a numerous congregation.

Unfortunately, this year, too we were struck by the floods on July the 20th. It was even bigger than last year's. It flooded everything from basement, to garden and the garage. After the waters calmed, we we able to fix and clean everything as we could. Fortunately no big damages were done, except the mess that was left behind.
The authorrities who are supposed to handle these things even after 2 months are still just giving promises that they will build a wall to protect us.

On the 9th of June our headquarters received the 1000$ that You'd sent us and the 100$ that You'd sent for the Simons, but we were given notice only in August so that's why I wasn't able to give my thanks for it right away. I am sending my gratitude in the name of the congregation and the Simons.

In mid-July we were occupied with painting the parsonage (4 rooms, all the windows and doors plus the floor). The job was done with little help from the congregation members and finished in the first half of August.

On the 17-18th of August I was in Torocko with my younger son at the ODFIE youth-conference.

On the 20th of August we had the Szent Istvan (Saint Stephen, founder of the Hungarian state who converted us to Christianity) ceremony where all the congregations (unitarian, calvinist and catholic) took part. I was holding the ceremony in the church.

I had no break this summer, except the 3 days when I was at my wife's parents between August 22 and 25.

I'm at home now and awaiting for the school-year to begin. My youngest son, Elod graduated from college, but couldn't find any job in domain (History-librarianship) so he's looking for a job in Kolozsvar. It is hard to have a steady job as a teacher. Only those manage who pay their ways in which is not a small sum. It is so much that he doesn't earn that money in a year.

My oldest son is studying for one more year and we'll see what will be his fate.

We are thinking of You with love and wait for your answers.

Best regards,
Rev. Sandor Botond and family
