First Unitarian Church Calendar

We, the member congregations ...covenant to affirm and promote:

  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations.
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
A Summary of Our Social Actions
Our Social Responsibility Committee works in four broad areas for the purpose of preparing our congregation for social action, as a whole congregation and as individual members. These four areas are:
  • Committee Leadership of Social Actions
  • Financial Support
  • Education and Planning
  • Survey of Social Actions By Other Church Bodies and Members

Financial Support
Our annual budget provides support for these community services and social justice organizations:
  • The Center For Women and Families
  • Tingley House
  • HELP Office
  • Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice
  • Kling Center
  • Council on Peacemaking
  • NAACP
  • Fairness Campaign
  • Southern Indiana Center For Women and Families
  • Community Hunger Walk
  • Neighborhood Development Corporation
  • Coalition for the Homeless
  • RESULTS Anti-Hunger Lobby

The proceeds of our grocery certificate sales, after church, help these organizations.

Education and Planning
Stop by our Social Responsibility table after church for information and petitions concerning numerous causes. Watch our column in STEEPLETALK, too. In addition, we are planning a social responsibility Celebration of Life and self-assessment.

Survey of Social Actions
We survey the social actions taken by other church bodies and our members individually and report them to the congregation in the annual report. Everyone belongs to the Social Responsibility Committee! Please send us news of your activities!
